Words Etched In Time
“As long as we have each other,” you wrote, “that’s all that matters.”
And then you left,
You left me standing there like a mislaid child in a mob of strangers.
Etched in time,
I was left with that simple line
written in a card
I kept sealed away in a chest beneath my bed.
Though I’d begged and I’d pleaded,
I’d run, we’d run, out of time.
