      1. I think it works really well, especially after the longer line that precedes it. The way ‘wrings’ and ‘rinses’ echo together through the alliteration and assonance also helps to pave the way for the moment when – in that short line – the rug (or the cloth) is pulled out from under the reader with that solitary word.
