When you’re kind and when you’re happy the universe, in turn, is kinder to you. Have you ever noticed that? Some people call it karma, others refer to it as The Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction basically means that when you’re positive, when you’re in positive spirits, you’re like velcro for positive experiences. Positivism breeds positivity. And positivity begins to chase you around and stick to you. And that’s the one kind of sticky that I certainly wouldn’t mind being. It’s a pretty simple philosophy.

It basically goes like this: when you are a positive, happy and kind person you attract positive, happy and kind experiences. You give off a kind of feel good vibe and good things just start happening to you.

The Law of Attraction is a theory developed and discussed by Rhonda Byrne in her 2006 bestselling book, The Secret.

Have you ever noticed when you’re having a bad day, like when nothing seems to go right, and everything seems to go wrong, you’re usually in a horrible way right from the start? Like you woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Well, the same is true when you’re having a great day and everything seems to be going right. Those days when nothing can bring you down.

It’s not the world that changes. It’s simply your attitude that controls your experience of daily life.

Fundamentally, positive emotions, create positive thoughts that attract positive experiences. Negative emotions, create negative thoughts that attract negative experiences.

In essence, you are what you think. And how you think affects how you feel. And if you think positive, good things are much more likely to come your way. A self-fulfilling prophecy as such.

When you start thinking positive and when you can start seeing the best in each and every situation, you grow a light from within that searches for a similar light in your external environment. A light that attracts light, which attracts more light.

All these interesting and wonderful things begin happening to you. You don’t go looking for it. It just kind of happens. Like, good luck. But the good luck is something you’ve attracted. Something that you basically began to grown from within. And it’s such a beautiful thing to be able to sit back, relax and watch as all of the good in the universe begins unfolding itself in front of you. As it begins reaching out and shaking your hand.

Today, I ordered myself a beer on my flight. Like just that second, and you know what? The flight attendant dropped it off, smiled and winked and told me to enjoy. The beer was on the house. Or rather, on the plane. A free beer was just what the doctor ordered while I begin the start of my Caribbean vacation.

But I think that I set myself up for that free beer. I had flashed my flight attendant a meaningful and genuine smile and I think she was like, you deserve a free brew girlfriend, because I’m sensing your vibe. And you know, when she gave me that brew she was probably feeling good because she knew she had made me feel a little brighter. It’s all for, and nothing against.

It’s a fact that how you think determines how you feel. It’s a concept at the core of counseling. If we change our thoughts, we can change our emotions, and thus change our behavior. That’s what is at the forefront of modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Again, positive thoughts, positive emotions, positive behavior. Good stuff right?

So, what can you do to become more positive, and to attract positive experiences?

It’s simple, really. Focus on the good. And expect that good things will happen to you. When you find yourself filling your own mind with negative self-talk redirect those thoughts and turn them around. Start looking at that cup as though it’s half full and start being kinder to yourself. Because, the first person that you need to be kind to is you. You cannot be kind to others if you’re first not kind to yourself!

Happiness starts from within. The world doesn’t change. But it’s your perception of it that does. So, kick those blocks down that prevent you from attracting good things. Get rid of that inner critic, and change the channel on that inner voice. Be positive. Look for the positive in everything.

And then kickback, relax and watch as good things start happening to you. You deserve it man. You deserve all the happiness, my friend.
